On the park
Three marked routes leave the stable court: twenty minutes around the pond, fifty through the beech avenue, and a shade over two hours if you take the boundary. All of them are yours to use at any hour. The gate codes are on the back of the residence door.
The lane down
Leave by the Loriven gate, follow the lane past two cattle grids, and join the vale road at the bridge. Fourteen minutes down, closer to twenty back up. It is unlit for the middle stretch, so take a torch.
What we will tell you
Which kitchens serve after ten, when the market runs, which nights the theatre is busy, and where the bus stops. We sell no tickets and take no commission from anywhere in Halbern.
Carry photographic identification if you plan to enter licensed floors in the vale. Door staff there check every time and we cannot vouch anybody in.
